How to sign-up (this tutorial is from our spring 2024 event, but the process is the same for the upcoming event):
If you watch the video under the “How do I sign up?” FAQ it will walk you through the sign-up process. When you register yourself, you’ll have the option to add additional participants to your registration. As long as you have the information of each person that you want on your team, you can register each participant. When it gets to the step for choosing a team, create a team name for your group or join an existing one if one has already been made. The other option is to complete your individual sign up, then send the sign-up link to your group and instruct them on what team name to search for to sign-up under when they get to that step.
At kick-off your team will be provided with:
We’re always looking for ways to improve and make each Tidy Up Tomball event better than the last! 🌟 This year, we’re going completely digital to streamline check-in, reduce wait times, and cut down on printed materials.
When you arrive:
✅ Check-in will be faster and smoother. Start at the check-in tent.
✅ Your route number, team name, and t-shirt size will automatically appear when our team checks you in.
✅ After check-in, head to the next tent to pick up your t-shirt and other supplies.
✅ Route assignments will be easily accessible via a QR code, so you can quickly find your cleanup location.
We’re excited to make this process more efficient, so you can spend less time at check-in and more time making a difference! 🧡🗑
Participants must register in teams, with each team including at least one adult (18+). This allows for flexible planning. We recommend joining your child for the event or arranging for a trusted adult to be the team captain for your child’s group. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all!
Tidy Up Tomball is unable to provide transportation for your child from the kick-off location to their assigned route. We ask that you either attend the event with your child or make arrangements for their transportation—both to and from the route. After completing their route, please ensure they return to the kick-off location to return supplies. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!
We recommend parking in a public parking area near your route. On some routes, this may require you to take a short walk to reach your route.
In 2023, local business owner, Amanda Trickey, noticed a growing litter problem in Tomball as the community expanded.
Raised with a strong sense of environmental responsibility from her youth and paired with inspiration from her involvement in The Big Event at Texas A&M University, she decided to take action.
Amanda proposed the idea of a community-driven trash clean-up event, aiming to instill a culture of cleanliness and responsibility.
With support from fellow business owner Jonetta Barnett, they met with Mayor Lori Klein Quinn to discuss the initiative. That same night, Amanda presented the idea to the Tomball City Council, and Tidy Up Tomball was born.
With swift action, a Board of Directors was formed, 501(c)(3) status was obtained, and Tidy Up Tomball held its inaugural event just 6 short months later in the fall of 2023 with 180 volunteers and 300lbs of trash picked up throughout the community.
Huge thanks to the founding members who came together to make this initiative a reality including Jonetta Barnett, Brooke Cegielski, Amanda Coolidge, Florine Ellis, Elaine Hancock, Drew Huffman, Amanda Kelly, Emma Leatham, Meagan Mageo, Lori Klein Quinn, Nikki Ramon-Gross, Colleen Pye, Alena Strand, Amanda Trickey, and Micheal Truitt.
